While still targeted at surfer’s looking for a high volume modern fish shape, we believe this is our best Superfish yet; offering the perfect balance of stability and turning response.

OUTLINE: Wider nose, fuller outline up front, and parallel rails create a large stable platform through to middle to generate speed. We’ve eliminated the flyer making a smoother curve in the back half of the board. The tail outline tapers so you can make tighter radius turns when you position your back foot right on the tail. The swallow tail also adds bite especially in smoother conditions.

DESIGN: The return of the original step deck! This feature increases volume through the spine and out towards the rails, creates a flatter deck, while allowing for a lower, more sensitive feeling rail. Single-to-double concave delivers a very consistent and predictable feel, without restricting speed or the ability to transition quickly from rail-to-rail between turns.

ROCKER: The 3 stage rocker is well balanced, with just enough flip in the entry to prevent nose-diving in steeper waves. The flatter mid section maintains forward drive and flow. Moderate curve out the tail presents the opportunity to really jam a nice turn when pushing harder off your back foot.

FOIL: We’ve added volume to this model, under the chest and extending towards the nose and tail. This provides amazing paddle power so you can get into waves early.

PERFORMANCE: Renowned for its wave catching prowess, this model really does appeal to a wide demographic. It’s the perfect board if you’ve just started turning and you want to progress to the next level of performance. Or maybe you’re getting a little older, you’re struggling on a smaller board, and you want to keep turning. From knee high, to well overhead, the SF4 will keep you coming back for more.

The 7S Super Fish does not come with fins.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0869/9736/products/cat-prod-7s-20-sf4-pu_1024x1024_2x_jpg_e2349222-25b3-44b6-a22f-f5fd90a3aea2.webp?v=1649793147
58-ghost
5'8 Pyzel Ghost

Description

The design that JJF rode to two consecutive World Titles! The rear end has plenty of rocker curve for turning control and a snappy responsiveness. The wider tail-block squash helps to keep area in the tail which provides lift and drive, and also helps create pop when going to the air. A moderate hip by the front fins puts a break in the outline to help create a pivot point that allows for tighter radius turns and release in the lip.

The rocker and bottom contour is really what sets this board from other boards in this category. Its our flattest HPSB so far and that rocker translates to easy, consistent speed from the moment you stand up, through flat sections and even in super weak, small waves. But, flat rocker can feel sticky and tends to make you surf flat, so we run single to double concave (JJF's favorite bottom contour) through the front 2/3 of the board and then blend that into a significant double concave/deep vee combo through the fins and off the tail. This bottom keeps the flatter board easy to roll rail-to-rail and the vee of the tail works to allow easy vertical surfing and short-arc carves, even in tight, pockety waves.

The thickness flow (foil) from nose to tail is balanced and clean, with the front of the board just barely thinner than the back half. The deck is flat-ish, keeping more foam (volume) out towards the rails. The actual rails are full just in from the outline (under the ball of your hand if you are holding the board under your arm), but are tapered to keep sensitivity and bite.

Ride your Red Tiger around an inch shorter than normal HPSB, and a bit wider. Volume should be close, but go up a ½ to1 liter for added zing in weaker waves. Low rocker for speed, concave for lift, curvey rail line for turning and the Vee out the back, which acts like a rear fin, guiding and holding in through turns. The Sub Driver OG and 2.0 have long been staples of our amateur, WQS and Challenger Series competitors’ quivers. A small wave performance, workhorse weapon, since a young Kolohe Andino used them to rampage through the Amateur and QS ranks, on his way to over a decade on the World Tour.

A longstanding favorite of Average Joes and countless Bros, on both East and West Coasts, to stay surfing on a performance short board, on a level they can boast…rather than a fish or hybrid shape, in average to sub-par surf. The past 3-4 years’ refinement and feedback, we’ve evolved the foil, bottom curves, outline rails and rocker, for a new generation of surfers to attack typical small wave contests.

Guys like Cole Houshmand and Kade Matson both relied on swallow tail Sub Drivers to qualify for the WT. Michael Rodrigues regularly rips them, as does East Coast stalwart Michael Dunphy and the OG Kolohe. Based off rider feedback and the consistently large amount of custom orders for swallow tailed Sub Drivers, we realized it’s time to release the updated design…and do it as a swallow tail, first.
